Gió Marconi Gallery was established in 1990 by Gió Marconi, who previously managed Studio Marconi 17, an innovative space for emerging artists and curators from 1987 to 1990. Initially, the new gallery was co-directed by Gió and his father Giorgio, a seasoned gallerist who founded Studio Marconi (1965-1992).
In its inaugural year, the gallery featured exhibitions by Martin Kippenberger, Mario Schifano, and Richard Hamilton. Over the following 30 years, Gió Marconi Gallery has cultivated a dynamic program and a distinctive approach to showcasing art, making bold and forward-thinking choices
Throughout the decades, the gallery has consistently supported its artists’ careers, promoting their varied practices to both local and international audiences and institutions. While the gallery has always focused on contemporary art, it has gradually incorporated historical artists from Studio Marconi into its exhibitions.
